Boy do we have a lot of fun traditions around the Holiday season!
For three years now we have attended the Vancouver Christmas tree lighting with the Horrocks family on the day after Thanksgiving. Not even the rain could hold us back! It’s a fun way to welcome the Christmas season.
The zoo lights are a fun one for the girls. Every year we ‘update’ our family picture in front of the gingerbread house.
We realize that soon we will miss the days of U-cut Christmas trees at an affordable price. The Northwest is so beautiful, and we will cherish these memories! We went to a new farm this year, and the girls had fun riding Elvis the donkey!
How cool are these tree carry/pusher things?
All lit and decorated!
Malia had her preschool Christmas Program and was too cute! As soon as she walked onto the stage Allie screamed and waved“Hi Malia, Hi!” And Malia shouted back “Hi Allie!” It was pretty funny.
Malia’s school also had a Santa breakfast. After last year I was unsure of how Allie would react (she freaked out, which made for a classic picture), but his year she surprised us all after running straight up to Santa’s lap upon his arrival and sitting there all nervous like.
Malia made sure Santa knew that she wanted a “Baby Wanna Walk” for Christmas… a super duper expensive walking baby. Thank you TV commercials.
I can’t believe how much we do around this time of year. We made sure to catch the Christmas Ships.
We even went to the Polar Express! This was our first year trying this out. We planned to go with a good friend from work, but they unfortunately got into a small car accident on the way. Thankfully, they made it on to a later train. (Thank goodness for Christmas miracles!) The girls loved the ‘real’ train ride, their hot chocolate, cookie, golden ticket, and their visit with Santa at the North Pole! Malia just couldn’t believe how close the North pole seemed when riding a magic train! (It was so perfect that it was snowing that evening too!)
The girls even got Christmas bells, but they don’t seem to ring! (or do they…)
We found time to make a gingerbread house! The older Allie gets the more fun it is to involve her in our traditions.
Christmas Sunday!
Phew… I’ll try to stay up to date now that I am on break for a couple weeks from work and school. But… I could get busy planning for our new life in the MIDWEST! Yup, this girl got accepted to Dental School and we’ll be heading out sometime in June/July! We can’t wait for our next adventure!
